Much of the astrological attention now turns toward the upcoming solar eclipse taking place just after the Sun and Moon inch into Scorpio some two days hence. Should you be tuned into the next holiday on the calendar, this might seem a little Halloween spooky. An eclipse in Scorpio? How eerie! Where the Moon’s emotional surges stand in the way of the Sun’s need for display and cogent clarity? Can this be a good thing!?

Yep, it’s a good thing. What will happen is that the eclipse redirects attention toward those things that stand as truly significant in your life. The Scorpio eclipse will strip down superficialities into bare bones, passion-driven, soul-motivated priorities. There will no time for nonsense. Nonsense would be defined as something that is outside the focused objectives of ones higher purpose. The value of the eclipse will be to restore perspective on what means what. Here in the U.S. you’ll see heaps of fans praying for the outcome of baseball games during the World Series (a complete misnomer) as if it contained the code to locating the Holy Grail on that new highly bendable mobile phone they’re tweeting on at the same time. If you’re a baseball fan, trust the Universe has a plan for the outcome of sporting events... that is, if the Universe cares. If the Cosmos does not fancy the sport, the effort may be misdirected prayer.

During an eclipse, something is blocked out. This time not only is it the Sun’s face by the Moon, but two Sun-centered transits may be overlooked as well in eclipse hoopla. In the next days, from the Sun’s point of view (heliocentric), Jupiter aligns with the perihelion of Venus and the heliocentric position of the North Node of Neptune.

The perihelion of Venus is a roughly “fixed” marker in heliocentric longitude where she comes closest to the Sun in her orbit. Here, Venus receives solar illumination and potent radiation that seek to shed light upon and look inside for soulful clarity through the shortest distance, and thus with maximum intensity. Here, Venus moves the fastest in her nearly round orbit, stressing priorities with a “step on it” vibe. And presently, Jupiter transits that point and embellishes all that matters to Venus - social priorities, money, status, self worth and what one brings to the table.

Jupiter to the node of Neptune waxes philosophical. The true meaning of Neptune is sought. It’s mystery and magic requires Jupiterian formatting to place the undefinable into definable terms, such that a grasp of the Great Mystery can be applied to the dynamics of a most mundane world. Now, Jupiter works to amalgamate Neptunian awareness in his own words

Like Venus, Neptune orbits the Sun in a rather round orbit. Symbolically, a return to an appropriate sphere of life returns. No longer are exaggerated objectives or distorted plans favored. It’s an effort to restore a good fit for ones spirit and to achieve the inner yearnings, amplified by the upcoming solar eclipse. Dream and yearn to the fullest, keeping the aspirations aligned with inner soul workings.

Collectively, it’s time to restore perspective and reassign the value of life. It’s time to reduce fear and hype designed to direct consciousness toward conclusions that support a cause, claim, platform or belief system. For instance, TV pundits who declare that the Ebola virus can be transmitted with a cross-eyed look (I am exaggerating for purposes of potential Neptune distortion) should be ignored now and here ever after. In the U.S. the political ads are so full of machinations and manure about who did what with legislation, tax laws, medical programs and such, that one will have to go to the polls, clear the head (and chakras) and vote for who feels right in the moment within the core of the being. Facts have been twisted and distorted into confusing unfactoids.

Personally, it’s time to reset priorities. Priorities about what you need, want and desire. Is it spiritually intact to want something you feel enhances your appearance, and in so doing, lifts up your confidence, and be more consistent with what you seek to feel within? That’s for the soul to know and the ego to sort out. Is it okay to want a high paying job, or should one live on economic scraps while doing altruistic work? Does a middle ground exist? Should one plunge into activism within the throngs of people on the planet or does it make more sense to sit on a mountain top and pray for the world at large and hikers ascending beyond their capabilities on the world’s most rugged peaks?

Are there right answers?

That’s where Jupiter comes in. This is a time to seek all wisdom and insight and distill the input into a collection of truths that you can whole heartedly apply in your life. Jupiter reminds you that your religion or spirituality is personal. No one can tell you how God appears unless they stared into the face of God. Unless one recorded the words on an iPhone, no one can tell you what Mohammed, Jesus, Buddha said. This is a “sort your own truth” time.

Presently, Mars in Sagittarius and coming off a near comet collision, aligns with two back holes in Sagittarius. Here are some axioms and commentaries from these black holes:

> Do not listen to those who teach what they have not mastered.

> If your instinctive actions cannot comply with a belief system, should you modify your actions to suit the beliefs, or adjust your beliefs to accommodate instinctive actions? Ultimately, practice what you preach.

> Contemplate that all your experiences prepare you for what lies just ahead. Strive to assimilate the wisdom of all those experiences.

> Adopt a position of authority in the belief system that best guides you.

> Share your beliefs and opinions with others when sought out (and only to those who subscribed to your e-mail list).

> Realize there’s no need to preach to the choir and similarly save yourself stress by resisting the urge to convert the unconvertible.

See, there’s nothing so spooky about Jupiter’s helio transit efforts masked behind the eclipse. Remember, no matter what the aspect, Jupiter seeks to rectify situations (according to his doctrine) and make everything better.

Speaking of masking, here’s a Happy Halloween pumpkin face of the Sun taken from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory. Even within the eclipse, the Sun manages to dress up for trick or treat and remains celebratory. It’s a totally Venus (perihelion) and Neptune (node) image. It’s beautiful and evocative (Venus) and it appears to be something else (Neptune).
